Terms and Shipping Information

First and foremost, we are pen collectors who sell pens, ephemera, and pen photographs. All the items listed here are either new Sheaffer and Cross pens or pens from our personal collection. We've done the best we can to represent them accurately. We hope you enjoy your new pen or photograph!

It's more important to us that you are happy with your purchase than anything else.

How To Buy From PenHero.com

  • Easy Payment Using PayPal: All items can be paid for using PayPal. All "Buy Now" buttons will take you through PayPal checkout, where you can pay with your credit card.
  • For information about PayPal and how it works, please click the PayPal logo or here. We do not accept other on-line payments. PayPal is owned by eBay and is available to users in more than 40 countries.
    I prefer PayPal, the #1 payment method on eBay!
  • If you are not presently a member of PayPal, you can still check-out, and sign up.
  • We Also Accept Checks And Money Orders: If you do not wish to use PayPal, click the email link under the item to send us an email with your request and we will email you an invoice that you can print and mail with a check or money order. We accept checks and money orders if they are drawn on a USA bank. Checks must clear before we ship, which can take up to 10 working days.
  • Credit Cards, Wire Transfers, And Other Forms Of Payment: We only take credit cards through PayPal. We have chosen this method due to rampant internet fraud. We do not accept wire transfers. We cannot accept payments drawn on non-USA banks due to the clearing charges.
  • Out Of Stock Items: If an item is not in stock, we will contact you and offer you a refund or order it for you. Most orders take about two weeks to arrive from Sheaffer and Cross.
  • Gift Orders: If you are purchasing a gift to be sent to another address, please let us know and we will ship the order with an non-priced packing slip. We can also include a gift card with your message on it at no additional charge.

How To Buy Multiple Items On The Same Order

  • Multiple Item Orders: We will combine shipment on any combination of items you order. Unfortunately, we have been disappointed with PayPal's shopping cart and do not use it at this time. Until we find a suitable shopping cart program, we can combine shipping in the following ways.
    • Order Individual Items Through Pay Now: If you order multiple items using the Pay Now buttons, we will combine the shipping charged and refund you the difference between our cost to ship and what you paid. Your refund will be posted the day after we ship.
    • Request A Quote: We are happy to quote a multiple item order. Please click the email link on any item and let us know what you want and we will quote the complete shipped order.

How We Ship Your Order

  • When Will My Order Ship? We almost always ship the same or next day as your paid order. If you pay by check, we will ship the next business day after your payment clears our bank. If we are away, we will notify you of the earliest ship date.
  • Location: We are located in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. We ship directly from our warehouse.
  • Packing: Most of our shipments are packed in shipping boxes with new packing material. Items are wrapped in bubble wrap for protection in shipment. If the listing does not state otherwise, the item will be shipped in a box. Some items, such as refills, are shipped in padded postal envelopes, which will be clearly stated in the listing for that item.
  • Invoicing: A detailed invoice is enclosed that includes contact information, telephone and return address information.
  • Notification: When your order ships, we will notify you by email and will include the Delivery Confirmation or tracking numbers, if any.
  • Insurance - Please Read: We will insure any shipment you wish, at cost and in addition to the selling price. Insurance is recommended for loss of an item. If your order is not insured, you bear the risk of non-delivery.
  • USA Shipping: All prices shown for USA shipping include USPS Priority Mail Shipping with Delivery Confirmation to any location in the United States. We will give credit on the shipping cost for multiple pen purchases shipped together. There's no need for you to overpay for shipping.
  • International Shipping: All prices shown for international shipping include the cost for either USPS Global Priority Mail or USPS Express Mail. We gladly ship internationally, but recommend shipments only in a traceable form. If you are outside the USA, please contact us and we can give you any shipping details you need on your specific order.
    • USPS Global Priority Mail: Global Priority Mail is a prioritized air mail service available to 51 countries and shipments generally take 4-7 days to arrive, unless they are delayed in customs. There is no insurance available and no tracking. The maximum weight for a Global Priority Mail package is 4 pounds. See USPS shipping details here.
    • USPS Express Mail: Express Mail is an expedited air mail service and shipments generally take 2-5 days to arrive, unless they are delayed in customs. All Express Mail packages are insured and have tracking. See USPS shipping details here.
    • USPS Air Mail: In some countries the only option is USPS Global Air Mail Parcel Post. If you want to use air mail, we will quote it for you. USPS Air Mail shipments generally take 4-10 days to arrive, unless they are delayed in customs. USPS Global Air Mail Parcel Post packages can be insured, but will not have tracking.
    • Customs: All shipments are declared as merchandise at the total purchase price. Shipping costs are not included in the customs declaration. You are responsible for any customs fees charged in your country. We do not know all the customs rules in every nation, so we cannot estimate the customs charges. We recommend you contact your local postal office if you have questions about customs fees.

We Want You to Be Happy With Your Purchase - Return Policy

It's more important to us that you are happy with your order than anything else. We've done our best to accurately describe each item's condition, but if you aren't happy with it for any reason, we will take it back.

  • Free Inspection Period: Unless otherwise stated, all items for sale carry a 10 day free inspection.
  • Return Shipping: If you have to return your order, please review the following:
    • We Made A Mistake: If we made a mistake and sent you the wrong item, we will pay for the return shipping. Please contact us as soon as you get the order, return the item, and we will ship the replacement item when your item arrives at our warehouse. We will refund your shipping cost to us when the item arrives.
    • You Don't Like It: This happens. The color isn't what you expected. It's heavier or lighter than you thought. Makes no difference. We will take it back. Return shipping is at your cost. We will refund your purchase price, less shipping, when your item arrives at our warehouse.
    • It Doesn't Work: Sometimes things don't work out of the box. If the item fails and it is under the manufacturer's warranty, we can put you in touch with the manufacturer to have it repaired. You can also send it to us for repair or replacement, if we think we can fix it. Return shipping is at your cost. We will repair it and return it or refund your purchase price, less shipping, when your item arrives at our warehouse.
    • Where To Ship Your Return: First - Please contact us before you ship us a return. Please include a copy of the invoice and a note telling us what you want us to do. Please ship your item to:

  • Special Instructions for Mint and New Old Stock (NOS) pens: Most collectors will devalue a mint or NOS pen if it is dipped or filled. For that reason, we can't refund any mint or NOS pen that is dipped or filled. Special care must be taken, for the same reason, not to mark or scratch any mint or NOS pen. we will consider allowing you to dip the pen, but to return it will incur a restocking fee, which will be deducted from your refund.
